Yoana and the revelation of Mr. Right

IMG_3175_EDT2Painting “Yoana and the revelation of Mr. Right” 2014 (120x90cm, acrylic on canvas).

As an artist I’m inspired by other artists, that is, painters, sculptors, writers and photographers. Among my favorite painters you can find Picasso, Matisse, Rousseau, Van Gogh, Kirchner, Chagall, Kahlo and Lichtenstein, but there’s one in particular that made a big impact on me when I saw his painting “The Empire of Light II” at the Museum of Modern Art (MOMA) in New York.

(Who is it then?)…

The answer is René Magritte, one of a kind artist, a painter-philosopher who thought in images, moving from fantastic idea to fantastic idea with apparently playful light-heartedness [1]. Now, let me tell you that for me, no painting at the MOMA compares to the mystery evoked by the painting a mentioned above (really! I was so excited that I wanted to cry).

(So…) The painting “Yoana and the revelation of Mr. Right” is a tribute to this magnificent artist and at the same time to my artist-writer sister, who also fell in love with Magritte’s work.

(But, does this painting have a meaning?)… Well, this question can be answered by the following words by René Magritte;

“Visible images which conceal nothing; they evoke mystery and, indeed, when one sees one of my pictures, one asks oneself this simple question, 'What does that mean?'. It does not mean anything, because mystery means nothing either, it is unknowable.“

(Who is this Mr. Right I talk about in this painting?)…

The only thing I’m sure about is that this person, this man who is Mr. Right will be soon revealed, or at least that’s the hope I have. (to be continued…)

Now, WELCOME to the backstage photo shooting gallery!

I took the photos while Simone Di Santo was working with Yoana(not that bad or what do you think?).IMG_2854_EDT

Yoana looking very professional in her charaterization.

I have to admit that once in while I interrupted Simone’s work because he ususally said to me “Elena, please move a little bit because you are appearing in the photo” (Ups!)IMG_2860_EDT

The talented photographer working hard.

Breathe Yoana, breathe! We know it’s a lot of work, but it’s totally worth it.IMG_2845_EDT

Yoana feeling relaxed.

We had the complete support from the staff members of Liverpool Store at Galerías Tabasco 2000, they helped a lot by letting us use the Men's Fitting Rooms and by bringing the right suit’s size for Yoana (although men’s clothes are big, even the smallest size!)…IMG_2850_EDT

A planned day for us  (Yoana, Simone and I) turned out to be an UNEXPECTED day for the people working at the store, who told us “These things never happen here!”IMG_2872_EDTAfter trying several rooms for the photo shooting we ended up in the biggest one.

Just checking the work done.

The model also wanted to contribute with her selfie… (remember that this painitng is part of the project “This is not a selfie” to be exhibited next 2015 in Villahermosa, Tabasco).IMG_2925_EDT
